A Legacy of Craftsmanship
Acme Plumbing Co. was founded in 1947 by W. Laurence Tilley, Sr. Originally operating as S & T Plumbing, the company quickly grew under the leadership of W.L. “Dub” Tilley, Jr. and his wife, Shirley, eventually becoming Acme Plumbing & Heating Company.
What began in the Tilley family home grew steadily over the decades. In 1964, Acme expanded its capabilities through the acquisition of Paschall Brothers Plumbing, adding residential repair and replacement services and establishing a strong service division. Leadership of the company passed to Larry and Lee Ann Tilley.
As the industry evolved, so did Acme. With heating systems shifting away from hydronics and toward air-based systems, the company refined its focus, building a reputation as a premier plumbing and piping contractor throughout Durham, Raleigh, and the greater Triangle area.
For generations, Acme has been trusted to deliver quality workmanship on both residential and commercial projects, always guided by the same principles: do the job right, treat customers fairly, and stand behind the work.
A New Chapter of Growth
In 2025, the Tilley family passed ownership to Tripp Andracchio, marking an exciting new chapter in the company’s history.
While honoring the strong foundation built over decades, Tripp is leading Acme into its next phase, with a clear focus on becoming the premier residential plumbing service and installation company in the Triangle.
